This is a place that you can recommend books you've read in the past without leaving a review. Other than remembering that you really enjoyed it you might not remember enough about it to remember why and you don't have plans to read it again.
If you want to recommend a book that fits into this category, start a new thread here with the book title and the author. A picture is helpful but not necessary. You can leave a very brief description of why you're recommending it.
You can also copy the synopsis as well if you want to but don't worry if not, staff will do this for you.
If you read a book that has been recommended in this section, please post a review in the library and then post a link to the corresponding thread in here.
I hope this is clear, but feel free to ask questions here if you have any.

You are also able to request a recommendation in this board as well.
You can either do this by asking for a recommendation within a particular genre or maybe you have a big TBR and would like some help to decide which book you should read next.

Honestly, I get confused with all the boards. I don't dare post in one unless I reply to a post, because it's just too bewildering for me. I like the book "The Remains of the Day" by Kazuo Ishiguro, who was born in Japan, but moved to Britain at the age of 5. I have seen the film (very well done), but the book is a very good read as well. Now I have just stumbled over his new book "Klara and the Sun". Synopsis (taken from Amazon UK): From her place in the store, Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, watches carefully the behaviour of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass in the street outside. She remains hopeful a customer will soon choose her, but when the possibility emerges that her circumstances may change for ever, Klara is warned not to invest too much in the promises of humans. I will put this one on my list to buy, and I recommend it, simply because it's the kind of book I would love to read. Link to the book at Amazon UK: Klara and the Sun

Aww Valdy, Please don't let that stop you from posting. We can always move posts to the right place if absolutely necessary lol.
I have taken that on board though and will look to see how I can maybe simplify things. There are a couple of boards that I've been looking at that I don't thing are really needed so bear with me.
It's a bit of a balancing act as I really like forums where there's lots to see and lots of opportunities to post but at the same time I don't want to overwhelm other users lol.

I went to Waterstones today, and had a look at "Klara and the Sun", and to my disappointment, the little I read was pretty dull. And considering the book costs £20, and I only get £3 off at Waterstones, and the book isn't all that thick either, I decided to give it a miss. I may buy it when it comes out in paperback, but only if the font will be large enough.
ETA: The synopsis sounds really interesting, but when I read the first couple of pages, it was just too boringly written.

I think waiting for the paperback is a good call if you're unsure. I wouldn't be surprised if the supermarkets pick it up at some point because of the reviews it's had.

Good point about the book coming to the supermarkets as a paperback. It's not available as a hardcover, and usually they do have the hardcover of an author as well, so I am not sure. I don't recall having seen a book by Kazuo Ishiguro at ASDA or Tesco before, so they might not carry his books.
