I read A Discovery of Witches a couple of years before it turned into a TV show. The book follows Diana's point of view, while the tv show has a broader view on the different characters. Something you had to get used to, but the author behind the book had her finger on the story adapted to television.
The first book can be a bit slow in the beginning, but picks up as it goes. The first series of A Discovery of Witches only had 8 episodes, which was a bit on the low side for a book like A Discovery of Witches.
Second series of A Discovery of Witches which is based on the second book Shadow of Night had 10 episodes, which was so much better, especially with all the stuff that's going on in the second book.
Of course there will be cuts and adds, when you adapt a book for the big or small screen. But I have to say the series does the books justice and can't wait for the third and final series in 2022 which is based on The Book of Life.

Susanne: Just dropping in to say I'm still alive. Work is killing me and on the mends from a bad cold as well. The book is currently being transformed into book form, so waiting for it so I can give it the last approval before it goes into mass production.
