On the subject of not defacing our books.... do any of you annotate yours?
I annotate by using sticky tabs. I have a dreadful memory so the tabs help me find and remember what I read that impacted me in some way, which then helps me to write reviews. Actually, having a dreadful memory was the motivation for me starting up the forum. I figured it would be a good place to review the books I read and help me to remember in more detail what they were about and why i did or didn't enjoy it.
I don't have any particular code for annotating. I just stick a tab on any page that I think I'll want to find again.
How about you?

*shock ~ horror" What are you saying, Hippiejo ?? LOL I have a few books, where I use sticky tabs to remember pages I want to read again. For example, I once bought the book "Cooking for Claudine" by John Baxter. The story was pretty pathetic, but he had added a few nice recipes in the book, so I used sticky tabs for those pages.

The only books I've written in were for my studies when I attended college.
Other than that I don't put notes I. Or mark anything out that I find interesting. If I can't remember it after I've finished reading the book wouldn't have been interesting enough.
I take notes for research for my own books. But I usually write them on my computer. Been doing a lot of reading on WW2, where I've taken notes. Mainly because the books were library books so couldn't keep them.
