Gone Girl
I read the book first and then watched the movie the same weekend, straight after finishing the book which was a really cool way of making a comparison between the two. So buckle up!!

The Book
Initially found this book to be really hard going and dull with way too much unnecessary detail.... but then, I suddenly got it and understood why the author was writing the way she was and it's actually so, so clever. Part two for me was the most enjoyable part of the book and I was totally drawn in to trying to work out what on earth was going on.
By the way.... I haaaaated Amy! Horrible, Horrible person.
You get so much information about the characters in this book that I found myself unsure as to who I should hate the most. (It was most definitely Amy). The only two characters I liked in this book were Margo & Tanner.
The ending was disappointing to be honest. It didn't satisfy my need for justice or closure at the end of a book and I was left with the feeling that these two main characters were still going to destroy each other and likely their child as well.
The Movie:
Actually a really good translation of the book. You still got a really good sense of the warped psychology of the main characters despite not having the same amount of insight into them. The movie didn't really lose anything through the loss of some of the details that were left out.
Desi came across as less creepy in the movie than he did in the book and Boney was less annoying which meant I liked them marginally more.
Oh... and I still hated Amy.
Movie or Book? Honestly this is one of the rare occasions I think I preferred the movie. The book is a substantial read and while I understand why all the detail was written, it was at times a little bit laborious. The movie did away with all that but still maintained the integrity of the plotline.
